Fannie Lou Hamer Digital Driving Tour

Go on a journey with Fannie Lou Hamer!

Welcome to the Fannie Lou Hamer Digital Driving Tour, an online journey through the Mississippi places that shaped her life, activism, and enduring legacy.
This digital experience introduces visitors to sites in Ruleville, Winona, Kilmichael, and nearby Delta communities where Fannie Lou Hamer organized, spoke, worshiped, and transformed American history through her fight for voting rights, civil rights, and human dignity.
And through most of our short videos, Fannie Lou Hamer herself tells of the significance of that location - through word and song.
All videos were filmed by Tommy Kirkpatrick of CommonHouse Productions and select scenes were taken from our award-winning film, Fannie Lou Hamer’s America with videography by our director, editor and music composer Joy Elaine Davenport, Pablo Correa and R.J. Fitzpatrick.
The videos for the Driving Tour were produced by Tommy Kirkpatrick and Monica Land and funded by the Mississippi Humanities Council, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi.
More videos will be released periodically and will include sites in other states. Please donate towards our future productions!

Updates and additions are coming to our Driving Tour!
